May 18-21 2008 3rd International Conference on Research in Air Transportation Fairfax, Virginia, U.S.A
Following the success of its two previous editions in 2004 and 2006, ICRAT has now been established as a mainstream biannual event in Air Transport Research, alternating with the USA/Europe ATM R&D Seminar. ICRAT is an excellent forum for young researchers within air transportation to share their work, expand their professional network, and gain new knowledge and inspiration. This third edition of ICRAT include one-day tutorial and three-day conference, including a doctoral symposium where PhD students can expose their research problems to get advice from established scientists in the field. Parallel invited workshops on Single European Sky ATM Research and US NextGen initiatives are also expected.

ICRAT 2008 is jointly organized between EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre and George Mason University, and is sponsored by the US Federal Aviation Authorities, NASA, the European Commission, and by EUROCONTROL. Grants for young scientists and students to present their research results at ICRAT will be awarded in limited numbers.

Winter term 2008/2009: Master of Civil Aviation (MCA) Programme
The European Civil Air Transport System (CATS) will be facing enormous challenges in the future. Indeed, EUROCONTROL indicates that the traffic is expected to double by 2020, reaching 20 million flights. This will create unprecedented challenges in terms of available capacity, as well as in terms of safety. The safety level will need to be improved by a factor of 5 in order to keep the current rate of accidents.
To be capable of efficiently managing the contemporary and the future CATS, both in the strategic as well as in the tactical or operational sense, the managing teams should have experts with a comprehensive understanding of processes and needs of all stakeholders and thorough knowledge about (relating) integrated CATS operations.

As a result of the increasing need for highly-trained personnel, following the academic experience and successful academic cooperation in the recent years the one-year Master of Civil Aviation (MCA) programme is being offered by the following partners:
- Divisions of: Airports and Air Traffic Safety, and Aircraft Operations and Air Transport Planning and Management, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, University of Belgrade
- Operations Research Laboratory, Department of Electrotechnics, Electronics and Informatics, University of Trieste
- Division of Work, Organisational and Environmental Psychology, Department of Psychology, University of Graz
-Centre for Research, Development and Simulation, EUROCONTROL, Budapest (CRDS)
